Following the disappointing postponement from 2021 due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic NSA Sheep South West will next be held on Tuesday 20th June 2023 at Rampisham Manor and Cobham Farms, Rampisham, Dorchester by kind permission of Mr Robert Boileau.
This is a 3,500 acre estate where Gareth Beynon manages the 1800 acre farming enterprise. With 3000 ewes, a Galloway beef herd and arable rotation the day will have something of interest for everyone. Environmental schemes run alongside the farm to achieve the desired results and vision the owner has. There is extensive woodland on the estate and recently a firewood and timber business has expanded to make use of this.
The flock of mainly Lleyn, Aberfield and recently acquired Romneys lamb outside in April. This is a grass based system with the arable rotation seeing an introduction of clover and herbal leys that has helped finishing lambs that are sold to ABP. Forage crops have been introduced recently and this year will be growing fodder beet.
This will be an action packed day with plenty for everyone to see and hear about. Already Robert and Gareth are proving to be enthusiastic hosts – get the date into your diaries now.
