Scottish Future Farming Investment Scheme (FFIS) 2026: Capital Grant Support for Sheep Handling
The Future Farming Investment Scheme (FFIS) is a competitive capital grant scheme supporting investment in Scottish farm and croft businesses to improve efficiency, sustainability and environmental outcomes.
FFIS offers upfront capital funding to ensure all agricultural businesses can carry out the most appropriate on farm/croft capital investment for their agricultural business that will deliver at least one of the schemes objectives which are:
- improve business efficiency and sustainability
- protect, restore or enhance the environment
- reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- mitigate the effect of climate change
The budget for the 2026 scheme is £14.25 million.
To submit an application, agricultural businesses will need to:
- be registered and approved to receive funding with the Scottish Government Rural Payments and Inspections Division (SGRPID)
- have an active Rural Payments and Services account and
- have an up-to-date preferred communication email address on Rural Payments and Services

To calculate the Application Score, multiply each investment’s Item Score by its Total Eligible Cost. Add the results together, then divide by the Total Eligible Cost of all eligible investments.
